17 Killed in Shooting Attack on French Newspaper Office -The offices of Charlie Hebdo were the target of a terrorist attack on January 7th, 2015. Algerian French brothers Cherif and Said Kouachi,  entered the magazine’s offices while armed with assault rifles and proceeded to hunt down cartoonists who had drawn satirical pictures of the prophet Mohammed. During negotiations, the brothers claimed they had been sent by Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula and were prepared to die as martyrs. They were killed in the ensuing shoot out with the police.
