Scammers have taken over an Adani employee’s email account and used it to send phishing messages to professional contacts. The emails, which contained a single file and invited recipients to download it, were sent out just after 9am on Thursday morning from a single account.

Adani stopped the scammers “within minutes”, according to a company spokeswoman. An Adani spokeswoman said the incident was “unfortunate” and the company acted quickly to shut down the scam. “This morning, a run-of-the-mill phishing scam targeted on a staff member’s Adani email account,” the spokeswoman said.

“Unfortunately, it was a scam which people face across the world regularly. It was shut down within minutes of being detected.”
