Based on specific inputs from the Army, the Uttar Pradesh Police today arrested a 22-year-old man for duping aspiring soldiers by promising them guaranteed selection in exchange of Rs 5 lakh. The accused Ravi Yadav was arrested from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.

Police said Ravi used to impersonate himself as a serving soldier of the Indian Army and used alias like Ravi Kumar and Om Yadav to conceal his identity. They said, to win people’s confidence, Ravi would sometimes appear before them in army uniform.

He is accused of impersonating as a serving soldier, producing fake documents and fraudulently receiving money from aspiring soldiers by promising them selection in army recruitment rallies held in and around Varanasi.
